Japan Nuclear Fallout, and Canada / US – Radiation Sickness

So from the sounds of it, if we are to trust the mass media and the information fed to them by politicians, Canada and the US are in little to no danger due to Nuclear Fallout. That said, I personally believe that they would say this anyways to prevent people from panicking – something that will likely happen any way in the event of a full meltdown.

More recent reports are indicating that a full meltdown is highly unlikely. Again, I am not sure how true this is, but I sure hope it is. Continue Reading »

Nuclear Meltdown in Japan and Fallout in North America

So I am a little pissed.

Here we have a looming threat of a Nuclear meltdown in Japan, but so far NONE of the news stations are saying what will happen to the West Coast of Canada and the US should this meltdown occur.

If there is a meltdown, there is a strong possibility that the jet-stream will carry Nuclear fallout over to the West Coast, however, nobody is covering this worst case scenario and what it means to us. How much radiation is likely to reach Canada and the US if this happens, and what, if anything, can we do to prepare for it? Are we doomed, or will we simply have minor problems that will pass?

Click now to get PREPARED!

I think it is highly irresponsible for the news stations to not cover this possibility – If there is anything I can do to prepare, I want to do it, I don’t want to be scrambling last minute with some warning hours before we are effected. They have had days to prepare us for anything, yet we know nothing!

I am not sure what the original source of this image is for Nuclear Fallout from Japan, but if there is any truth to it, it is rather frightning...

UPDATE: It has been brought to my attention that thankfully this image is a fake! Thanks so much Nem for finding this and letting me know! Here is the link confirming it as a fake over at Snopes!

If I learn anything I will post it here – I urge you to comment as well should you find any good links, or see any good video that covers what we should do to prepare for the worst.

Are you worried about Nuclear Fallout hitting North America?

Review – No Ordinary Family

Somebody burn my eyes out and destroy my TV remote. I have watched this show since the premier, and for some reason I keep watching it. It is truly one of the worst shows on Television. Yet I watch. Why?

I think I am waiting for the show to get better. I like the general premise, however the writing is brutal. It is full of extremely cheesy moments, bad coincidences, and big continuity errors, and is more predictable than anything.

I will give you one bad example. In last weeks episode, The shapeshifter (who’s name escapes me – shows how memorable she was) tries to kill Jim Powell. She didn’t know he had powers, and so she shoots him. The bullet bounces off. Later she takes Stephanie Powell’s form and confronts him, at one point in the conversation he mentions “as long as you don’t kiss me with that lipstick and I lose my powers again”. Seriously? How lame is that. So she puts on the lipstick, kisses him, he loses his powers, and then, rather than shoot him again and end it easily, she then takes his form, and fights him to the death. She loses (no surprise here). Why didn’t she just shoot him?

I realize that he is one of the main characters and can’t die, but come on, make the battle a LITTLE bit more realistic. If the characters don’t at least use common sense, the show loses credibility to me. I don’t want to be frustrated watching a show.

What it comes down to is that the writing is really lazy. The stories are not developed enough. I will be very surprised if this show makes it to season 2. I say bring back Heroes. This show was obviously created to fill the hole left by the sudden Heroes cancellation, but was not given the budget, or the talent, to do it right.

I am not sure why, but I will continue watching for now, I am in this far, I may as well give it a chance, but if I miss an episode I certainly won’t be upset over it.

Dear Americans… Why do you oppose Health Care?

As someone who had numerous hip surgeries as a child, if it weren’t for the health care system here in Canada my parents would have been bankrupt, I would have ended up in a wheelchair, or both. BUT Because of our health care, I walk round just like everyone else with a small limp – people I have known for years sometimes notice it and say “Oh, did you hurt your foot?”

I believe the United States is the only developed nation in the world that has seen medical bankruptcies. Lives destroyed, and people die because they can’t afford to seek medical treatment.

Here in Canada I can walk into any emergency room knowing that no matter how bit or small my problem, I will be treated fairly, properly, and for free!

Sure I pay for this indirectly with my tax dollars, but its the best tax dollars I’ve ever spent.

This is largely why I am so extremely confused why so many American’s are against Health Care. I can see politicians being against it as it costs money, and I can see private hospitals against it as it would put an end to the $100 cotton swab, but for those working class citizens, why on earth would you not want this?

Please, if you are an American and you are reading this, leave me a comment and help me understand why you would not want health care. Honestly, in the end it doesn’t impact me. I’m covered, but I still don’t understand.

This is way way way cool. I am not a skier, but this looks like one hell of an adrenaline rush, part of me wants to try it, but a bigger part of me would never get the courage to try it…
