So we made the switch from Shaw Direct to Bell a little over two years ago. Recently we cancelled Bell and are now using Netflix and online streaming through the computer plugged into the TV for new shows from major networks.
So Far So Good.
For the record: I hated Bell. Felt great cancelling! The BIGGEST problem with Bell – Their PVR. The Motorola 9241 is a big piece of CRAP! The second biggest problem: Their customer service is TERRIBLE!
Next time we will try Telus Optik and see how that goes. Will stay away form their satellite service though, they use the same Motorola 9241.
Any readers out there using Telus?
Take the poll, who do you find to be the best?

what about the picture quality? on Bell vs Shaw?
Assuming you were watching on HD, Bell sends out ONLY 720P (except on some pay-per movies) while Shaw sends out 1080i for most HD channels.
Picture quality was great with both. bell does send out 1080i, I have seen so myself – they also have 1080P on SOME PPV movies, so no issue there.
We actually recently cancelled bell though, and switched to Telus Optik, and are WAY happier with it. Great quality, great price, and the PVR is WAY WAY WAY better, and guide and menu’s look far superior.
We have bell satelite since ’11 and its been a drama.
Their cust service is bad bad bad.
Even if you would understand what they are saying it doesn’t make sense.
Unfortunately we only have the option for satellite tv. I’m considering shaw.
Since you’ve tried both…. Your comment is very welcome.
My only reason for postponing is all the recorded things on pvr will be missed if we have to return this pvr to bell.
