Not sure any readers here will get my reference, but back when I was a kid, right through to high school, every Friday morning at 8am, Vancouver Radio Station LG73 would play this song. (Bang On The Drum by Todd Rundgren). While it may not be the best song in the world, it brings back many memories, and as such I love it.

The first season Lost was on, I didn’t really watch it – I didn’t really care. Then in the late fall of 2005 that all changed.

My wife and I had just moved to the far North. Our neighbor & new friend Chad had also just moved and didn’t have his TV hooked up yet and asked if he could come over and watch Lost at our house – he was a LOST junkie. When he offered to bring some Crown Royal over with him, we said yes. Two things happened that night – I became a fan of LOST … & Crown Royal. We had a LOST party every Wednesday night for the rest of that Season.

It’s now 5 years later, and we are down to the last few remaining episodes. I have not missed a single one since that evening in November 2005. Somehow even my wife got hooked – and she hates these types of shows. There are still more questions than answers, but they are starting to fill in the blanks as we near the end.

It is kind of bitter sweet. It will be nice to put the show behind me and not be left wondering “wtf” but at the same note, I think I will miss it – I have never been as hooked on a television show before, well, except maybe The Office, but it’s a different animal.

LOST is like crack. I am in many ways sick of watching it as it can be frustrating with all the questions it poses, but at the same time I cant not watch it, I must get my answers. I wanted to stop a few seasons ago, but needed my fix when it was on. They did almost lose me in that huge dry spell caused by the writers strike a few years back.

Wonder if I will go through LOST withdrawl in a few months time. Chad, if you are reading this, Cheers! I’ll have my glass of Crown during that final episode – I’d watch it with you, but the 10 hour trip to get to your place is just a tad too long for a TV show.

I have to say that when we first heard that Ellen Degeneres was going to be the new host on American Idol, both my wife and I did not think she would be all that great.

We thought she would be too funny for the show, taking too much of the spotlight. We were worried that she would be too much like Paula – super nice to everyone, everyone’s “biggest fan”, and just a waste of space.

Boy were we wrong.

We are both pleasantly surprised that Ellen seems to bring that perfect mix of honestly, niceness, and humor. She cracks some jokes, but doesn’t go overboard. She calls things as they are. If someone does a bad job, she tell them, but manages to do it in a somewhat nice way.

Ellen, If you are reading this (which you probably aren’t) My wife and I support you, and hope to see you on several more seasons of American Idol. I’m sorry we thought you wouldn’t be a good fit – I admit, we were wrong.

If you like the muppet show, you will probalby like this clip from 1969… hard to believe it is from so long ago. Still entertaining today – so simple, but so catchy.

My wife and I, like many, have a Nintendo Wii. I am no expert, but I like to think I am pretty good at some of the games for the Fit etc.  Certainly this is no hard core console – gamers seeking groundbreaking graphics, action,  and online play go the direction of the Xbox and PS3 (btw, I SUCK at Xbox, just ask my friend Ross! Its kind of embarrassing actually…)

Today I saw something that I have to ask my self “Why”. Sure I like the Wii, but even if I was super rich, like Billionaire status, I have to say I would most likely refrain from purchasing the £300,000 Golden Wii.

What is this world coming too!?!?

Some things I just don’t get. Some movies and books I just don’t get.

Take the movie Twilight for instance. It appeals to me about as much as having five root canals and a colonoscopy done at the same time while being forced to listen to Kenny G and stare at nude pictures of Betty White. (Sorry Betty, but I’m just not that into you).

Today I was introduced to a website that could eat up a LOT of time if you let yourself succumb to its power.  The site is TheOatmeal.com. A series of cartoons making fun of everything from bacon and manboobs to zombies and Twilight.

If you are like me, and simply don’t get Twilight, then you must check out this site. It will give you hours of enjoyment.

The whole Prop 8 vote etc is long since old news, but I had not seen this video before yesterday and thought I would share it. I have to say I agree with just about everything Keith Olbermann says.

I see no problem at all with allowing same sex couples to marry – trying to prevent this, and take away their rights is a joke. What difference does it make to me, or any other straight couple out there if two women, or two men decide to get married? None. It does not impact my life one bit in any way shape or form.  I am certain that in my life time this is something that we will look back at and wonder why it was ever disallowed, just like inter-racial marriages – its hard to believe that a black person could not marry a white person only 40 some-odd years ago.

Lets move in the right direction and give everyone the same rights once and for all.

Today Patrick Swayze died at age 57 after his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Personally I was never a Swayze fan, but it is certainly a sad day for his family.

2009 has definately been a bad year for the deaths of celebrities. This year so far we have seen the loss of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, Billy Mays, Ted Kennedy, and now Patrick Swayze. Even food celebrities Oscar Meyer and the Taco Bell dog signed off this year.

Kanye West was on the premier of Jay Leno tonight, and the interview was not quite what I expected. While Kanye was relatively quiet and didn’t say much he did sound genuinely sincere about feeling bad for what he had done at the VMA’s last night.

I have a feeling that the entire thing is a well orchestrated publicity stunt for ratings for Leno, and extra exposure for Kanye, but who knows.

As far as I am concerned when he interrupted Taylor Swifts acceptance speech last night it was entirely unacceptable, and this small apology is just not good enough.
