If you are like me, you saw Borat. If you are like me you got something you didnt expect. My expectations for Boart were for a funny movie, but I certainly didnt expect the shocking nature and incredibly politically incorrect & offensive jokes – was this a problem? Hell no – I LOVED the movie, not sure I ever laughed so hard in my life! Probably the funniest off-beat thing I had seen since Jackass!. Now with Bruno in theatres I need to get out and see this. I need a good laugh.
The best part about these Sacha Baron Cohen movies is that they are “leave your brain at the door funny.” You have to be able to put your guard down and just be entertained. If you are offended easily, skip his movies – they’ll anger you – but if you are able to just sit back and laugh, then its probably a must see!
During my work day, my boss of all people shared the Sacha Baron Cohen David Letterman interview with me. What a great interview. It then led me to watch the Bruno trailer, and then the Bruno top ten list. What a great way to start the work day, with a good ‘ol laugh.
If you’ve seen the movie, PLEASE drop a comment with your review, I want to know if its really as funny as I am anticipating – I am sure it will be as offensive
I wanted to also display the official trailer, but embedding has been disabled over at YouTube, so here it is wrapped up in another post, just have to scroll ahead a minute or so to get to it:
Recently we received a notice in the mail. Switch to Shaw Digital and get a FREE HDPVR. This sounds great! We were already a Shaw customer for Internet and Phone, and thought we might make the switch from Star Choice.
Well, Star Choice is now owned by Shaw, and has changed names to Shaw Direct. As a result Shaw will not extend the offer to us. They say they are only offering it to people switching from other competing companies. I can understand that, but its quite annoying – simply because the direct mail they sent us didn’t say anything about that.
My wife called Star Choice (now Shaw Direct) to try and get the deal from them, saying “Shaw Digital is offering this deal, so if you cant match it, then we will switch to Bell”. After more than an hour on the phone with 6 different employees, the best Shaw Direct could offer was an HD PVR for $499… interesting, considering that they are offering that anyways!!!
We have been using Star Choice for nearly 5 years now, and until this recent event, have had great customer service. It seems that only when they made the switch to Shaw Direct that their service has gone significantly down hill. It is funny really – in this tough economy companies should be doing whatever they can to keep their customers, instead they are letting us walk away. They are willing to watch a loyal customer of 5 years spend their money elsewhere. Does that make any sense? I don’t think so.
If Shaw Digital can afford to give away a FREE HDPVR for a new customer, you would think that Shaw Direct could afford to give away a FREE HDPVR to retain a customer – after all, it’s really the same thing.
So after all these years with StarChoice, we will say goodbye, all because your parent company made us an offer that they are not willing to stand behind.
I have to say I do watch my fair share of reality television. I am not a true Survivor fan, I miss it now and then, but for the most part I do tend to watch this show, and enjoy it. As for most of the others out there, I can do without them, the Bachelor can go away, I can’t stand it. When my wife has Americas Next Top Model on, I leave the room I dislike it so much. The only reality show that I do try to watch each and every week is the Amazing Race, My wife got me into this one, and now I can’t miss it.
My wife is also into the Biggest Loser. This is one of those shows that I don’t mind watching, but would never turn it on if it was just me alone with the TV. I watch it because my wife likes it and I don’t mind it, but it is not something I would choose. The problem with most reality shows, especially with the Biggest Loser, is the recaps they do after each and every commercial. Why do they feel it is necessary to recap everything that happened right before the commercial break, including a full repeat of at least a minute of the show! Hello, I JUST watched this. Why must they repeat themselves, why all the filler? Sooooo annoying.
Really the only part of the biggest loser that I find interesting is the final weigh-in at the end of each show. I am truly amazed at the amount of weight these people can lose in such a short time, it really is incredible. Last night, before revealing the weight of the final contestant, the show was “to be continued”. Give me a break – the show was already 2 hours long, and now you have to wrap it till next week?? Why not just cut some of the filler! Its things like this that make me want to boycott the show.
There seem to be more and more of these reality shows popping up, and then the networks go and cancel well written shows like “Life on Mars”, but that’s another blog post all together.
So we are sitting here watching American Idol, and we realized something – Ryan Secrest is super short. But how tall is he? He “claims” to be 5’9, but we think thats a load of bull – SO, how tall do you think he is? Take my poll and tell me what you think? (As for the 1’11″, I got that figure from a response that some put over at Yahoo Answers claiming that he Seacrest is a leprechaun – he may be right, so I included it here
What is this world coming to? I have to say that I simply do not understand.
A keyboard featuring the Klingon alphabet has gone on sale for £43.99 for all those die-hard star trek fans out there. The fake language was originally created back in 1984 for the Star Trek series and since then thousands of learnt to write and speak the strange non-existent language.
I have never been a Star Trek fan, so I just don’t get it, but if you are one, you may be interested in ordering this bizarre product. It has been made available here. It is available only with a PS2 connection – strange, USB has been around forever
Now I am not a big fan of the tuba. I dont hate it, don’t have a problem with it, just not a big fan, but the 447 tubas playing Christmas music in Downtown Disney would have been cool to see.
This is the 4th year for the event – last year a world record was set with 502 tuba players.
I tried to find a video of the event on YouTube but failed. If you have a link to a video of this, send it over and I will post it.
I was recently sent a couple of videos from a colleague of mine. This is not an unusual occurrence, but that last two videos have really annoyed me.
Both of them are “magic” videos, and I have to say I just don’t get it. My problem with them is that I cant for the life of me figure out how the heck they do it. I do find it entertaining, and it does amaze me, but HOW? What’s the trick? (Maybe its actually real magic – but I somehow doubt it).
The first video is not in English, so I have no idea who it is. The second is a David Copperfield clip.
If you have any idea how this is done, please share with me! I am guessing that there is a chance it’s trick photography, cgi, or other video editing, but lets assume its not, how would they do this to fool those watching in person? Do you believe it could be real magic?
I came across a post written a few months ago about USB wristbands being sold at live concerts, and found it a rather interesting idea.
As more and more people are turning towards a world of digital music, and as CD’s are breathing their last breaths, bands are getting creative in their marketing.
A band that I have never heard of before, “Slightly Stoopid”, had a concert back in August and was the first to sell USB wristbands that had the nights full concert saved to them. The drives were made available 15-20 minutes after the concert.
What great concert souvenirs – the full concert in digital format. I am certain we will be seeing much more of this in the very near future.
