Today Patrick Swayze died at age 57 after his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Personally I was never a Swayze fan, but it is certainly a sad day for his family.

2009 has definately been a bad year for the deaths of celebrities. This year so far we have seen the loss of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, Billy Mays, Ted Kennedy, and now Patrick Swayze. Even food celebrities Oscar Meyer and the Taco Bell dog signed off this year.

The Loch Ness Monster has been found!

If you take a look at Google Earth (57°12?52.13?N, 4°34?14.16?W) and scroll down a bit, you’ll see that this could be the discovery of the Loch Ness Monster! (To the left of the boat).

It could also be nothing. I am guessing nothing. But it could be the real thing too.

What are your thoughts? How would you explain this?

Earlier this year it was thought that Google Earth had uncovered the lost city of Atlantis.

Man Tries 72 Times to Impregnate Neighbor’s Wife

I found out about this on FailBlog of all places.

Here is the situation. Demetrius Soupolos tried to get his wife pregnant but failed, So he hired his married neighbor, Frank Maus, to do the job for $2500. After 72 attempts over 6 months, and still no pregnancy, Soupolos ordered Maus to take a medical exam. Maus agreed, not suspecting any fertility problems as he has two kids.

Maus’ wife objected and demanded that this arrangement stop. Maus insisted that he was only doing it for the money. Maus later got the medical report from the doctor back and found out he was completely sterile. His wife then made the confession that she had cheated on him, and that neither of their two children are even his.

Now Soupolos is suing Maus for breach of contract to get back his $2500.

I have to say, I would LOVE to see that one on the Peoples Court.

Moral of the story, don’t have sex with your neighbors wife for money to get her pregnant unless you are positive that your wife has been faithful to you and that your kids are actually your kids – or maybe just don’t have sex with your neighbors wife.

Note: I highly suspect that this story may in fact be fake, as I was unable to find any legit news source discussing it. I saw it mentioned in a couple forums, as well as failblog. Here is the image from failblog.

Real or not, its still amusing.

McNugget Emergency Call 911!

So you have decided that its time to have lunch. You head over to the local McDonalds and order up some McNuggets. You give the cashier your money, she gives you your change, then she notifies you that they are sold out of nuggets.

Now in most cases, you would do one of two things: Either change your order, pay the difference, and carry on, OR get a full refund, and get something to eat elsewhere.

Well, for a Florida woman, Latresesa Goodman, when she asked for her money back, the manager at the McDonalds refused, and it resulted in not one, not two, but three 911 calls.

Goodman was furious that the McDonalds would not return her money (and rightfully so) but withholding McNuggets is a far cry from an emergency, and definitely not worthy of a 911 call.

The police finally arrived at the McDonalds and Goodman certainly didn’t get what she wanted – instead she was arrested for misuse of 911.

According to TMZ, McDonalds ultimately sent her a full refund and an apology as well as a certificate for free meal. They noted that the customer should have received a refund, and regret what has happened.

Now I agree that McDonalds was in the wrong, but Goodman certainly should not have called 911. It got me thinking, what would I do? Well, if management refused to refund my money, I am not entirely sure what I would do. Perhaps a letter to the paper and a phone call to McDonalds head office to launch a formal complaint – I doubt I would call 911. Maybe I’d even take them on Judge Judy, although that would be more humiliating, and not worth the $5 return.

A recording of all three 911 calls can be heard here.

Wow, this Virg Bernero guy seems a little crazy when watching this video clip – Not only does he lash out at the Fox News anchor, he doesn’t even answer the questions that are asked – its like he’s in his own little world. He seems to have an agenda that he wants to talk about and doesn’t care about the irrelevance to the particular questions.

magic goatSo you have decided to live a life of crime – stealing cars, mugging people, armed robbery, and all that bad stuff. Whats the best way to escape being busted by the police? Well, you may think it’s turning yourself into a Goat, but the police are onto that trick – at least in Nigeria.

When I read this story I was sure it was direct from the presses over at the Onion, but after seeing it at Reuters and Yahoo News, I suspect ths story is true – sorta.

You can read the full story over at Yahoo News, but the jist of it is that a group of vigilantes hauled a goat into a police station in Nigeria claiming it was an armed robber who turned himself into a goat to escape arrest after attempting to steal a Mazda 323.

Apparently this goat is still in police custody – yet another reason I am glad to be Canadian.

I have a hard time believing the incompetence of the Chicago police force. How on earth is it possible for a 14 year old to successfully impersonate a police officer to the point where the precinct issued him an assignment and uniform. Are you kidding me?

After a 5 hour patrol he was finally discovered when officers noticed that he didn’t have an official star.

The teen has been charged with impersonating an officer and will be tried as a juvenile.

Brain Contained Foot

A tumor found in a newborns brain contained a foot, according to a story over at MSN Health & Fitness

I find it hard to believe, but strange things happen!

A doctor operating on a 3 day old to remove a brain tumor discovered a nearly perfect foot, hand, and thigh growing out of the newborns brain. It is believed that it was a case of “fetus in fetu” – a situation where a twin forms within another – a very rare case, and even more rare to have it occur in the brain.

I must say, this is rather freaky. I have heard of many strange cases of conjoined twins and birth defects, but this is the first I have heard of something like this. Makes me wonder what would have happened with the foot had the tumor gone unnoticed.

I have to say, I am not entirely sure if this is a joke, or if it is a legit interview.

In the wake of a shipping mishap off the cost of Australia, “Senator Collins” was interviewed. I am not sure how to describe the interview, so it is best if you just watch it.

Its interesting though – I am about 95% convinced it is a parody similar to something you would see on AirFarce, or even Saturday Night Live, or something, but 5% of me thinks, it just may be real… You be the judge, watch the video then vote!

Is this video a joke?

Unpaid Overtime – Thanks Vista!

Employees are suing for unpaid overtime resulting from a lengthy boot time of Windows Vista according to The Register.

A number of lawsuits have resulted against major US companies, but primarily call centers are the worst offenders. It seems that employees use time-keeping systems in their PC’s and can not official clock in for work until their computer has fully booted – in some cases taking as long as 15 minutes. The same time lag is also present when employees shut down their machines at the end of they day, accounting for a total of around 2 hours a week of unpaid time.

Total damages could run into millions of dollars – probably would have been cheaper just to install more ram or faster CPU’s in the first place.

Now, I have Vista, and while there are glitches that annoy me, the boot up time is not anywhere near 15 minutes. At times, when it seems to be taking forever, the lag is usually about 2 minutes max, so I am not sure what’s up with these vastly underpowered machines that are taking 15 minutes – regardless, these employees really should be paid for their time, even if it is waiting for the computer.

My question is, how much work time is wasted each week by Vista users circumnavigating glitches in the OS?
