Another Stupid Lawsuit

Now I want to start off by saying that I am not trying to pick on Americans, but it seems that the majority of the stupid lawsuits out there come from the states. Not all, but I have to say, I can’t remember the last time I heard of some ridiculous suit being filed in Canada (or elsewhere for that matter).

The latest stupid suit is from New York, where Dalton Chiscolm is suing Bank of America for 1,784 Billion Trillion dollars. To put that into perspective, that number looks like this:

$17,840,000,000,000,200,164,000

According to world bank, in 2008 the GDP was an estimated $60. Trillion, or:

$40,800,000,000,000

As you can see, that is significantly less… Even if he has a valid case, I am not sure how he figures he could be entitled to more money than has ever existed on planet earth – a number .more than 500 million times the GDP of only a few years ago. I am sure this suit is likely for publicity or attention – perhaps his mother never hugged him as a child or something and he is lonely, I don’t know.

If you ask me, people who file suit over ridiculous things, or for ridiculous amounts, should be locked away forever. It’s just a huge waste of tax payer dollars. (But I guess it did give me something to write about)

Free AK47 – Just Need to Buy a Truck

What is this world coming to?

If you think its time to trade in that old beater of a truck for a good ‘ol fancy new one, now’s the time if you live in Missouri!

Over at Max Motors, President Mark Muller is offering a free AK-47 with the purchase of a truck!

Now I am not convinced that this latest promotion is to try and sell more trucks – at least not directly. I am positive that it is simply to draw national and international attention to his business, and website, and as a result, well, he sells more trucks.

On his home page he has links to Fox, CNN, CNBC and other videos where he was interviewed about this promotion, and in some ways it is a genius way to get some serious link bait for his website. (It’s too bad he didn’t take the time to create decent looking site – looks like something I might have created way back in high school.)

I think if I had a car dealership I would offer a free bazooka with every purchase. That would be way cool.

Here is one interview that I will refrain from offering my opinion on – “Mama always said, if you don’t have anything nice to say…”

I guess with this, I am actually helping his efforts… oh well, its still interesting, and, I guess he still does deserve a little credit for creativity.

Penis Jousting… Nature is Weird

Okay, so I have seen a lot of weird video’s, and a lot of strange animals, but the penis jousting of the hermaphroditic flatworm is unlike anything I have ever heard of.

I must say, it makes me very grateful to be a human and not a lasagna noodle looking worm. “Who’s the man and who’s the woman? I dunno – lets fight about it – the winner gets to injects his sperm into any part of the losers body, and the loser gets to be the mommy.” Bizarre.

The flatworm does have something on us though – they get to have two penises. This whole thing reminds me of a video that would belong on the Onion.

Brain Contained Foot

A tumor found in a newborns brain contained a foot, according to a story over at MSN Health & Fitness

I find it hard to believe, but strange things happen!

A doctor operating on a 3 day old to remove a brain tumor discovered a nearly perfect foot, hand, and thigh growing out of the newborns brain. It is believed that it was a case of “fetus in fetu” – a situation where a twin forms within another – a very rare case, and even more rare to have it occur in the brain.

I must say, this is rather freaky. I have heard of many strange cases of conjoined twins and birth defects, but this is the first I have heard of something like this. Makes me wonder what would have happened with the foot had the tumor gone unnoticed.

The Treadmill Bike

I really do find the weirdest stuff online.

Treadmill BikeToday I came across one of two things. Either it is the dumbest invention of all time, OR it has been setup intentionally as a joke as link bait. (For those of you who don’t know, link bait is essentially creating something for your website in hopes of driving as many people as possible to link to your website for the purposes of increasing site visitors &/or organic search engine rankings)

The invention is – The Treadmill Bike. Part bike, part treadmill, 100% stupid.

If this is legit, I feel sorry for its inventor, if it has been created as a joke / publicity stunt, great job. Until I read through all the copy on their page, I was partially convinced it could be real, then when I saw their video, I knew – nope, so not real. Video is below.

Is Curing Disease a Good Idea?

I had a weird dream last night. I remember next to nothing about it, other than two parts. #1 – It was really weird and #2 – I had the power to rid the world of all disease. Not sure where the power came from, or what I did with it, just that I had it.

When I woke up I thought “that would be cool”. Then I started to wonder – but would it? Most of us (probably all of us), have been affected by some disease – whether it’s cancer, diabetes, MS, MD, Aids, ALS, or any one of the countless disease out there – so on the surface, curing everything seems like a great idea.

But is it? Is it really? Earth is suffering from a horrible virus called humans. We’re killing this planet – sort of. In the long run, Earth will survive long after humans are gone, but we’re not doing it any favors. Perhaps disease is simply Earth’s way, to try and fight this horrible human virus. But let’s forget about that for a moment, what about what’s best for us?

Humans as a whole are dealing with overpopulation, and in many areas there simply isn’t enough food or clean water to keep us going – so how would riding disease help – I’m not sure it would – ridding disease would mean an even faster population growth on this planet, and more people without food and water.

As of November 2008, the world population was an estimated 6.72 billion. By 2050 it’s predicted that we will be closing in on 9 billion people (according to a page on Wikipedia).

To see if curing all disease would be a good thing, I wanted to know how many people die each year as a result of disease alone. Good luck finding that statistic! I did find a stat that noted roughly 56,000,000 people die each year. I couldn’t find any figures however, on how that number breaks down…

So here we go – I am not a scientist, the numbers represented in this blog are not official in any way – I am going to take a totally rough guess as to what percentage I think that number may represent in terms of death by disease. Lets say… hmm… 25%. Too low? Too High? I dunno. It’s a guess. Leave me a comment if you think I’m way off – I’m listening.

Let’s assume for a moment that my figure is correct, cause, well, it probably is perfect, after all I chose it. That would mean that roughly 14,000,000 people die each year from disease. If we go 42 years into the future, and assume that this rate stays the same – that means that between now and 2050, the population could be 588 million people denser (assuming none of these people die of old age)

Hmm… In some super rare off-chance that my figures are 100% perfect, that’s really not that big of a difference – I suspected the figure to be in the billions before I wrote this blog post. This of course doesn’t factor in the natural death of old age, or other tragic accidents, nor does it factor in a lot of other stuff – its just an incredibly rough, uneducated guess, but if in fact my numbers are even remotely close to anything representing reality, then I guess, curing all disease, wouldn’t really be a bad thing for humanity after all.

If disease is nature’s penicillin to rid the world of humans, then it needs to get a stronger dose, assuming that my figures are even in the ball park (which they may very well not be).

Now I’ve heard it all…

Read about this earlier today in The Herald. Usually when there is a police chase, it’s the result of some felon trying to escape his evil doings associated with robbery, murder, drugs, or something along those lines. This is the first time I have heard of one instigated by a man making sweet sweet love to a pasta jar.

Over in Australia police approached a vehicle stopped in a no-parking zone. When they pulled up to the car with their lights flashing, suspect, Keith Roy Weatherley sped away. Police followed in a high speed pursuit, at times reaching a lightning fast 20 km/h (about 12 MPH for all your American readers).

The chase lasted about 10 minutes when Weatherley was finally stopped – he refused to leave the car. Using batons and capsicum spray, they removed him from the vehicle and found a 750ml jar around his “special purpose”, which he continued to use to pleasure himself while police wrestled him to the ground.

After searching his car, police found pornography, a home made sex toy, women’s stockings, and a Jack Russell terrier.

He was fined $600.

You just can’t make this stuff up!
